2020 Enrolment Statistics: QCA Enrollees exceed projections

Quezon City Academy’s continuously exceeding enrollment projections despite of the pandemic cause by Corona Virus. The Administration’s 50% only projection of the total enrollment for the Academic Year 2020 resulted to country’s economic status hitting low and to major retrenchment of different private companies nationwide.

Mr. Carmelino Alvendia Jr. –  QCA Chairman, states during the Faculty and Staff meeting held last May, that he is only expecting 50%  enrollees from the total number of enrollees last school year but the academy exceeded their    projection as they continue to accept students coming from different schools and regions.

As of this writing the academy has a total of 1,192 enrolled students compared from the 1,321, an 11% decrease from the total enrollees last Academic year 2019-2020.

When quarantine started, people have been confined to their homes and lost their jobs, especially those covered by the “no work, no pay” policy. This in turn caused a significant decrease in number of enrollees in some private schools in the country.

Base on research conducted by SWS possible reasons would also be the inability of some students to have access to computers or technological devices including the internet  connection which resulted for them to transfer to public schools implementing a limited face-to-face modular, and blended learning.

Meanwhile, Quezon City Academy lowered their tuition fees and offered assistance to students through lending laptops payable for 2-3 years. The introduction of online learning platforms like Google classroom and Nearpod also made possible with the help of its faculty members.

“I think the parents still value education, though we know how hard to look for a stable job to sustain the needs of their/our family because of the pandemic but still the parents manage to enroll their child/children in school. And that proves how important is education to them.  That is why this should serve as inspiration to students to study well in online classes.” Ms. Pascua shared during an interview. She also added that at this time of pandemic we need to foster understanding and empathy towards others, that we need one another to rise above this pandemic.
